about the author

I'd start with the blog, if it were me.

Beyond that, I'm overeducated, overpaid, and working in a job that I adore utterly. I'm trying to start a career in writing; so far I've been published in Outsider Ink. It's a slow process. Someday I'll make a professional website, just for fun, and host it at athousanddollies.com.

I place a lot of importance on writing and on music, and on creation of almost any sort. The world needs more creation, it needs people who will break out of the rut that others have tried to place them in, it needs more song and more stories. I don't believe in compromising myself.

I'm a liberal. I'm polyamorous, yet single. I think that most people are completely insane and I'd rather pet my dog than go on a date. The world doesn't scare me, but sometimes, the people in it do. I'm from the West Coast of America, I've lived in England, and I have curiousity about the world around me. I spell in British but write in American, and my idioms turn up in both languages. I studied anthropology for two years at Oxford and liberal arts for three years at Evergreen. I love my job. I believe in intellectual rigour, the written word, and the power of people. I drive, but I'm not proud of it. I recycle. I try not to shop at chain stores. I don't wear Birkenstocks, preferring instead knee high Doc Martens. I know what soap is. I don't do drugs. I drink. I fangirl Norman Reedus, Nick Stahl, Angelina Jolie, Alan Rickman, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I'm a roleplayer. I have cerebral crushes on authors and characters and I'd like to be locked in Powell's someday. I vote. I believe in god, but not organised religion. I'm having a crisis about whether or not the main character in my current novel should stay a whore and a drug addict or not. I have an unholy interest in Ireland, spirituality, politics, heroin, Pulp, and clothing. I hate brand names.

I have no need for a FAQ at this point, given that there are no questions, frequently asked or otherwise. I do freelance web design, I might do costume design and/or construction, I do proofreading and editing as long as it's not a violation of my professional contract, and I write on demand. Email for details if you're interested.
